The Congressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation have provided estimates of the Senate Democrats’ health bill, called “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (.pdf). According to this 36-page analysis, the legislation would “yield a net reduction in federal deficits of $130 billion over the 2010-2019 period.” In addition, an explanation posted this morning on CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf’s notes that the bill would reduce the number of non-elderly uninsured by about 31 million and its total cost tallies an estimated $848 billion in the same time period.
